Smetankin, Fricano Win
International Master Stanislas Smetankin and Aleksandar Stamnov won the second Cedric Thompson City Challenge this year, drawing with each other and defeatng the rest of their opposition.
Paul Royal Fricano, as the highest finishing Milwaukee resident, won the title of City Champion, scoring 3.5 points, losing only to Tournament winner Smetankin, and drawing with Erik Santarius of Madison.
Finishing in third place is Madison’s Guy Hoffman, With Steven Tennant, Isaak Gabrilovich and Erik Santarius finishing even with Fricano.
Defending city champion Jon Breider finnished in 8th place, with 3 points, losing games to Smetankin and Gabrilovich.
